This time off year often feels like a push to make it to the holidays. It can be overwhelming juggling so many lists and tasks, and it’s easy to take on too much. During periods like this, where we are experiencing heightened, or sustained stress – it often brings issues related to sleep, digestion, mental health and fatigue. While the holiday period is an exciting and fun time, it is easy to feel like we’re juggling too many balls and worrying something will fall!
Our nervous system may flick into fight and flight even though we’re supposed to be entering a period of rest and digest! Unfortunately this can contribute to a cycle which ultimately raises those sleep, digestion or mental health symptoms. You might be experiencing professional pressure, relationships, family, financial, environmental and social pressures. It’s a chaotic time of year!
Here are our tips for seeking a bit of R&R!
- Physical activity – pilates, yoga, walking, swimming
- Breathwork
- Connection to community – call a friend, head for a walk with a loved one
- Time in nature
- Meditation
- Volunteering or gratitude practice
- A device break
- Adaptogenic herbs
We’re now stocking the One Eleven Bliss Herbal adaptogen complex in Studio. An adaptogen is a herb or plant which is nontoxic, supports the body’s ability to manage stress and encourages homeostasis or a return to a relaxed state. There is growing research into adaptogens and their effects on improving mood, hormones, fighting fatigue and boosting the immune system. Now is a great time to carve out a few minutes for yourself, to sit outside and sip on your herbs!
Add these to your Christmas wishlist, or gift a friend.
